The firm advocates strongly on human rights issues by representing victims of human rights violations before the Senegalese and international courts. We also advise civil society clients on economic and social rights, such as communities' rights requiring protection in relation to the extractive industries. We participate in activities to increase the understanding of human rights law, including developing a course on human rights law for magistrates and prosecutors in Francophone Africa on behalf of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Partner Bacre Waly Ndiaye, who has been recognised by Amnesty International for his service to the human rights cause, leads our team in helping clients to assess their human rights risks in their strategic projects, as well advising businesses on the legal risks of operating in fragile states and conflict zones.
